Arnett to Secede. Kirby to Fight.

Dearest Readers:

The King has always been a fan of wacked-out politicos.  Like Texas' Governor Rick Perry.  Who threatened that his state would secede from the union.  And then do what I have no idea.

Now, one of our own Aldermen is threatening to secede from the Citte.  And another is threatening him.

Some background.  Mayor Cohen has Friday lunches for the Council.  They are held in different restaurants on different Fridays and are not publicly announced.  I suppose that makes them 'secret', right?

(How he gets this past the open meeting laws we don't quite know.  But, as readers are aware, the King is no fan of doing business in public anyway.  Smoke filled rooms are much more preferable.  So bully for the young Mayor!)

So far, these lunches have met with mixed success.  Often the Mayor ends up eating more crow than anything on the menu.  And often the Alderfolks go astray with threats and counter threats to each other and the Mayor.

Last Friday's was held at Castlebay and shows just how absurd these luncheons have become.

Alderman Arnett, it seems, is miffed again at the Citte.  He threatened that if he did not get his way Eastport would secede.  (His motivation for this is clear: if Eastport pulled out it is the only plausible way the words "Mayor" and "Arnett" would ever lexographically marry.)

Yet, Alderman Arnett should have stated more accurately that his half of Eastport would secede.  Aldermen Pfeiffer and Kirby have the two pieces of the other half.  And Alderman Kirby at least would have none of it.

"We will send a boat with armed black men to prevent a secession.  Just like George Washington crossing the Delaware." he threatened.  "It's our home too."

So we will have an armed insurrection to prevent the secession of the elite-want-to-be's from across the Gulf of Annapolis?

I say, let them go.

In fact, encourage it.  The quicker they leave the better off we will all become.  The Historic Core shall regain its rightful place as the throne room of the citte.  And Alderman Kirby's militia is much better placed at the gates to the citte to keep the rabble out.

Of course, this makes us anticipate Friday's theatre of the absurd all the more.

Maybe they will want to annex Arnold so Alderman Paone can get elected Mayor of something too.

  1. Friday Lunches for the council ? Preposterous !! Do they drink ? Is this in the Budget ? Does the Office know where these lunches are taking place ? I believe all of us in the underground news network must crack this nut. We must take pictures and secret recording of the goings on. What has Josh to say about this type of secret tax payer funded debauchery ? Arnett and Kirby need to present a United front ! Recall Cohen !!! Ps.Phill McGowan is a dolt.

  2. Dearest Tawanda:

The lunches are paid by each Alderperson personally. So no tax payer monies are expended.

But that doesn't touch the question of how such events are legal given open meeting, etc... laws.

  3. Sounds vaguely illegal & smells of democrats.
The restaurants undoubtedly comp the lunches off the books of course for a future favor.
    Such is the Annapolis way.

Does Paone get to go to lunch too or does he have to brown bag it?

  4. Are you telling me Josh says 'jump' and these losers spend their own money to eat lunch with him? Stupid Lot. This is a clearly secret meeting and I demand that Phill ( The Dolt) McGowan make a statement explaining the content of these cladnestine meetings before we are forced to take further action.

  6. Secret council meetings at lunch subvert securing the public’s right to know public business.

  7. but these bastards are always holding closed sessions to discuss the people's business!!! Which makes me wonder how's the investigation of the theft of the People's money coming along ? Do we have a suspect yet, and/or was it an inside job ? We have a right to know everything my friends.

  9. Dearest Readers:

    You asked, so I'll tell.

The investigation of the Finance Department heist is over. A preponderance of circumstantial evidence pointed to one person. Including the ill timed purchase of an obvious luxury item. And that person no longer works in citte government.

    Surprise.

The other news is that there isn't enough on this person to get an arrest and conviction. Or so the police believe. So the individual will not be convicted but lost a job.

And it isn't Tim Ellliot. Really.

btw - Remember you heard it here first...

  10. Discreet handling of these "personnel issues" like theft of the public's is always best. Check the horse track at midday to see who else shows up to launder city money.

  11. Discreet is best ? Bullocks!! This was a theft of the public's money due to negligence of a city official. We have a right to now everything and they have a duty to inform.

  12. Dear Ms. Bush:

You may feel you have a need to know. But, obviously, the Cohen Administration disagrees. Josh was deeply embarassed by the theft and will not allow it spoken of.

Even they have decided to let the perp walk.

  13. Yes I agree. It would be an embarrassment - let's keep it quiet.

  14. You agree with Josh ! You agree that Josh deserves to be protected from this great opportunity to humiliate the inner workings of Mayberry-Central. This is not transparency, oh no. This is a cover-up. The Mayor was hoping this was going to go by unnoticed. But it is time to get the officlal word about what happened. The People deserve to hear it from Phill.

  18. We must get an insider to divulge the conversations of these secret illegal lunch meetings.

  19. Who cares nothing is happening in Annapolis to have a secret about except he said she said politics. Let them have their secret meeting about nothing.

  20. Dear Anon., Of course you are right. And of course Josh is a laughinbg stock of insignificance on the political stage at large. But its fun to poke them with sticks. Besides we have a right to know. And we will know and it will cease.
